Penyanyi bersuara emas ini mengungguli Anugerah Grammy kali ke 54. Memang sudah diduga kemenangan beliau berdasarkan pencapaian albumnya yang berjudul "21" yang terjual sebanyak 6.3 juta unit di Amerika Syarikat dan menduduki tempat pertama di carta album Billboard selama 19 minggu.
Adele, whose album "21" was among the smash hits of 2011, took the stage and thanked her doctors, who performed surgery on her throat last year. "Seeing as it's a vocal performance I need to thank my doctors, I suppose, who brought my voice back," she said.
